United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is the principal deliberative organ of the United Nations, comprising all 193 member states. It serves as a platform for global discussions on pressing international issues, from human rights and disarmament to sustainable development and climate change. While the UNGA does not have the same binding authority as the Security Council, its resolutions carry significant moral and political weight and can shape international opinion and norms. The UNGA also plays a crucial role in electing the Secretary-General, approving the UN budget, and overseeing the work of other UN bodies.
"The United Nations is the home of co-operation.
And the General Assembly is the life within that home. You represent the beating heart of global co-operation"
- António Guterres
